Trauma Symptom Checklist

Trauma Symptom Checklist

Trauma can be defined in many ways. Oftentimes, when people think of trauma they think of war veterans, life altering accidents, or near death experiences. However, there are several other ways trauma can be defined. Experiences that people have as a child, generational patterns or hardships, racial discrimination and adversity, abusive relationships, neglect of emotional or physical needs in developmental periods of life…trauma can happen for different reasons.

The way that trauma is diagnostically defined doesn’t always resonate with how individuals experience trauma. Many people will go the majority of their life dealing with difficulties and stressors (due to trauma) but never learn what trauma symptoms can look like, and never get help.

Use our Trauma Symptom Checklist and if you check off more than you expected you would, it may be time to seek out help or support. These are common symptoms, however, it’s important to remember that everyone experiences things differently. It can present severely emotionally and physically for some, while others it may feel more numbing.

It’s never too late to work through past experiences and heal the fear or hurt that still resides in your mind and body. Healing is possible.
